Attorney Profile

Kerra Bazzey was admitted to practice as an Attorney-at-Law in Trinidad and Tobago in 1998. She began her career at the firm of R O Huggins and Co. (now Chersons) and remained there for 4½ years where she managed a highly vibrant and diversified portfolio. She strongly advocates the value of a small firm as it forces the Attorney to "hit the ground running".

An interest in the energy sector led her to the National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago in 2003. There she became involved in various projects for the domestic, regional and international gas markets.

In 2004 she left Trinidad and Tobago to pursue a double masters' programme at the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral law and Policy in Dundee, Scotland. There she pursued an LLM in Petroleum Taxation and Finance and an MBA in Oil and Gas Management. In 2004 she undertook an internship at PricewaterhouseCoopers in fulfillment of the requirements for the award of the LLM where she was exposed to a breadth of local and international tax issues affecting natural and artificial persons. In June 2006, she graduated with a distinction in each degree and returned to Trinidad and Tobago.

Since opening the law firm Kerra Bazzey & Company in March 2007, she has focused on building a broad based practice around core areas of specialization. Her wide range has allowed her to be relatively fluid to respond to the varying needs of corporate clients involved in the construction, estate and facilities management, energy, financial and manufacturing sectors.
